Students Host Student Publications Workshop

Students at Clemson University recently hosted the Leadership Institute's Campus Publications Workshop.

The workshop teaches students useful skills, such as how to recruit and retain a staff, fundraise for their publication, and conduct successful news interviews.

Throughout the workshop, several ideas for stories were discussed. Ideas ranged from analyzing the syllabi for various courses to potentially discover bias, to investigating what programs and events student fees fund.

David Keene Speaks at Furman

This Tuesday, David Keene, the current President of the National Rifle Association spoke at Furman University at the invitation of Furman's Conservative Students for a Better Tomorrow. The event drew more than 300 attendees and was also live-streamed on CampusReform.org.

Dr. Harvey C. Mansfield, Professor of Politics at Harvard, will be speaking at Wofford on Tuesday, March 13th on the topic of "Science and Democracy: It's really about manliness, politics, and human nature."

Professor Mansfield has written on a variety of topics in political philosophy, including many translations of great books, but one of his most popular books was published a few years ago and entitled, simply, "Manliness". He even appeared on The Colbert Report to discuss the work.

Students for Life Combat the Culture of Death at ETSU

At the beginning of this year, a Planned Parenthood office opened its doors in Johnson City, TN. This is, of course, a blow to the pro-life community of Johnson City and ETSU.

But ETSU's chapter of Students for Life is standing firm, despite an op-ed published this week (commemorating the anniversary of Roe v. Wade) in the Johnson City Press, the local city newspaper. The op-ed, entitled, "Some prolife ideas are disrespectful to women", was co-written by three female ETSU English professors.
